  5. It has been the greatest blessing growing up with Dane. Even when Jess and I neglected to invite him to our tea parties, he was still willing to sit with me to help sort out my boy problems. He truly went out of his way to show the people in his life how much he loved them. Dane, your passion was inspiring, your kindness was consuming, and you're laugh was absolutely infectious. Love you with all my heart<3

  6. Even just from sitting by Dane in history last year, it was so clear to me that he had a genuinely kind soul and loving spirit. He will be missed.

  7. My favorite memory of Dane is Halloween- the night I met him. There were no seats left at the table so he came and sat with me on the couch. We really got to know eachother. At one point, he got so excited telling me something he knocked my plate and food went flying everywhere!! All over him and me and the floor. He was so embarrassed, but we laughed about it the rest of the night. I'm going to miss his snapchats from King soopers telling me how work was going and him coming over to my house (whether I was home or not) to visit my puppy with Andrew and Kiran. He was such a light, and I'm going to miss him a lot. His kindness was so infectious. I love you Dane!

  9. Dane always had a smile on his face and was always willing to help with whatever you needed. He didn't mind listening to our petty girl drama and even dropping advice once in a while. For the short time I knew him, he was such a blessing in my life and I thank God I was able to have a relationship with someone like him. He always left me with a smile on my face. He was such an amazing person and he will be incredibly missed!

  11. Growing up with Dane is something that I will cherish forever. He never failed to make me laugh and he was always the nicest person in the room. I will never forget the time Dane, Jessica and I got "lost" in the park and hundreds of people were looking for us. Dane, you will forever hold a place in my heart, love you

  12. Words cannot described the feeling you get when Dane walks into a room or seeing him when you haven't in a long time and it's a feeling that not anyone can obtain. When he got his braces off I wanted to see that smile so bad and I'm glad that the face, the biggest smile he gave me was the one I can keep in my memories forever. There was not, there is not one mean bone in Danes body and that a pretty great legacy to leave behind and that's the legacy anyone who knows him gets to experience. Saying that, he is still watching over us his soul will always stay as kind as it was his whole life and that's something that's great knowing
You deserved the world Dane but now the world deserves you. we love you Dane and you will never be forgotten

  13. Dane always smiled and we had so much fun together in world geo and civ. We would always pick on each other, he loved my puns, he hated my neck massages that I would give him, we would never do the homework but all in all we talked so much and we would give each other advice. He always told me that it was going to be okay no matter what. I miss his smile and his lovely and sweet personality. He was truly a beautiful person.

  14. Dane always had a joke to tell and a smile on his face. I really got to know Dane in middle school during yearbook when we got partnered up. I always tried to get us off task and mess around and Dane totally went along with it even when we got in trouble all the time. Those were some of the funniest class periods ever and even when comming into highschool any time Dane was around I knew I would be laughing the entire time. Dane you are truly the funniest, nicest kids I have had the oppertunity to know and I will miss seeing your spirit everyday. Love you Dane miss you bud. -Lauren

  15. Dane Gouin was indescribable. He was so passionate, caring, patient, and selfless. Whether he was working, playing x-box, or sitting in the kitchen he was able to have meaningful and impactful conversations with anyone. One memory that stuck out to me to prove what an amazing person Dane was is after a halloween party when he stayed after to help all the girls clean after everyone left. Simple actions like that were part of his routine to make everyone happy. He cared so much for his family and friends and was so quick to help everyone. Dane, you were one of a kind and your radiant personality will forever be with us.

  16. My favorite memories of Dane are when we would walk home together from the bus freshmen and sophomore year. We would talk about anything and everything during that outrageously long walk home, and he had such a knack for making it seem short and enjoyable. He was such a kind, thoughtful person and I will miss him greatly. Love you Dane!

  17. My biggest memory of Dane, was a few years ago when he and I were both practically forced into going to see a movie with two friends. The movie ended up being awful. About 30 minutes in Dane Leaned over and said something so funny I started laughing loud enough for the whole theatre to here me. We ended up ditching the end and walked around the rest of the night sharing stories laughing to the point where we could hardly breathe. That's what I will never forget about Dane, he had a sense of humor that always made me smile and laugh. Also he never failed at making me feel welcomed. You will be greatly missed, love you Dane.

  18. Getting to spend the amount of time I did with Dane was the biggest blessing. He was always so kind to me even when Jess and I would lock him out of the room so we could play Littlest Pet Shop, or when we ruined his Halo game. ;)
I will always remember his smile, witty jokes, but most importantly his outlook on life.
    I'll miss you always.

  19. Dane...his smile and even better his laugh. Boy oh boy did he put up with us goldfish girls (Jess and I's soccer team). My favorite memories with Dane were when we played games at the soccer parties and us crazy girls would chase him all over the place. He made every moment a memorable one and changed any bad day into a good one with his indescribable smile. Love you and miss you dearly Dane!

  20. My favorite memory of Dane was when we spent an entire summer building a makeshift fort off of a trail by our neighborhood park in about sixth or seventh grade. Dane was always a very smart thinker and creative mind and he took charge as we built a perch for us in a small tree overlooking the path that crossed by between our two neighborhoods and created what seemed like our own castle at the time. It probably appeared to be something that two 12-year olds would put together but to us it was much more. We would ride our bikes there throughout the summer with new ideas on how to upgrade our fortress and it became a big project. We created our adventures in the summer there and I really noticed how good of a thinker and how special of a mind Dane had. We would signal to each other when someone walking their dogs was passing by on the trail and would hide on our perch or behind the bushes until they passed then signal to come back out. It was hard for me to pick a memory that I had with Dane as we had countless adventures and good times during our friendship but this one holds a special place in my heart and really makes me happy to reminisce about. Dane always made others around him happy and knowing him has definitely made me a greater person today.

  21. Dane never failed to make everyone laugh. He would always make quiet nonchalant comments on whatever was happening and they lead to a lot of very random bursts of laughter. I'll miss Dane and the wondering glances we got as to why we were laughing at seemingly nothing. I'll never forget how happy he looked when he and the guys in our homecoming group were all playing basketball despite being in their suits. They couldn't care less about about pictures they just wanted to have fun. I think everyone who knew Dane can agree, he will be greatly missed.

  22. Dane was such a kind person. Seeing him made my day. He genuinely cared about people and wanted to know how they were doing. One of my favorite memories of Dane is one night when we went to Krispy Kreme. While we were standing in line, Dane and I started a conversation with this little kid in front of us. If you wore a pirate outfit you got a free dozen of donuts, so we were talking to the kid about his brand new pirate hat, hook, and eye patch. We continued to talk until we got to the front of the line. Dane was so enthusiastic with the boy. He showed so much interest in this little boy he just met. He kept asking questions and listening intently to the answers. Later while we were sitting down, the mom of the little boy came over to Dane and said, “I really appreciate you. My son has autism and you made his night by talking to him. I’ve never seen him be able to hold a conversation with anyone for that long. Thank you.” That was the type of person Dane was. A caring, kind, passionate, and amazing human who changed lives for the better. Dane, you are so loved and missed.

  23. I met Dane in 6th grade when we sat next to each other in our first hour class. Dane was someone who constantly brought a smile to my face. One of the first times we were together I bet him that he couldn't fit into his locker, and he decided to prove me wrong. It was countless times like this that gave us the friendship we had. He was one of the most genuine people on this earth and I am truly blessed to have known him. Rest easy Dane, love you.

Not only was he funny and his happy spirit was contagious, but he was so kind hearted. I remember having him over at my house along with other of our friends for various get togethers and he would always help stay and clean up the mess after everyone had left. Also, Homecoming was a blast with him and I will never forget how much he made us laugh at dinner. He made the night memorable. He was always doing good and making others smile. Dane, you are so loved and missed. I am blessed to have had you in my life. Love and miss you, rest in peace.

  25. Dane was an older brother to me. He spent countless nights and days at my house. I loved how he would stop say hi and have a conversation with me whenever and whoever he was with. One time I was baking and needed coconut and sweet dane ran to the store and bought me some. One of my favorite memories was when he came with my family up to our condo. We would refuse to play no other song in the car except for No Sleep Till Brooklyn. He was so kind, friendly, and amazing. I strive to be as caring as he was. Rest in peace and love.

  26. Dane Gouin was such a kind radiant person that I will never forget. I always would look forward to seeing Dane because he wasn't super loud or abnoxious, but everyone loved him because he was the nicest person in the room. If you ever needed a friend, no doubt about it, Dane would be your friend and listen to you and talk to you and make you laugh, and really hard too. Dane was a guy who attracted people with his pure self, he never tried to fit in or be someone different, he was just his kind, humble, loving self. He was a person that everyone looked up to, and I know I looked to him as an example on how to love everyone. Dane was such a good person and friend to me and I will miss him more than I could ever express in this message. Love you forever Dane, my prayers go to you. :) -Katie Frontz

  27. My favorite memories with Dane were throughout elementary school. I have so many memories with this amazing person that its hard to pick just one. Even the bad times when he fell off my trampoline and cracked his head open. Through the good and bad he will always stay in my mind as the best and closest friend I have ever had the honor of knowing. Dane was like a brother to me and he was the best friend I could have ever asked for. I have so many great memories with him and his family that I will never forget. He was the kind of person that you could always look to in hard times and would stick by you through thick and thin. He took me in like a brother and picked me up when I got knocked down among so many other amazing things about him. Eventhough I had lost touch with him past middle school his friendship is something I will never forget and he will always be in my heart. I love you and I will never forget you.

  28. I just met Dane this year, and I couldn't be more grateful that I did. He was so kind, and I looked up to him for that. He sat right across from me, and I remember laughing with him in our public speaking class because neither of us knew what we were doing that whole semester. He talked about how much he loved mountain biking, and I thought that was such a cool characteristic about Dane. I truly loved getting to know him and will miss him so so much. Dane was a gift from God, and he always will be. All my love and prayers,

  29. When I think of the nicest people I've ever met Dane is at the top of the list. He was the absolute definition of genuine kindness and caring and his love for his friends was unbelievably strong. Dane was the coolest, most fun guy to hang around. My favorite memory of him was when I went to a white elephant Christmas party freshman year and got his gift, a Minions piggy bank, and I remember thinking it was the funniest, cutest gift and that I was definitely going home with the best present in the lot. I don't think Dane could ever possibly imagine how much he is missed by everyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting him, let alone getting to know him. I love you so much Dane. Rest in peace dude.

We've shared many memories from poking around in the creek by the green belt as 11 year olds, to laughing our heads off when carpooling to and from mountain biking. I will always cherish those great memories with such a great person.

  32. While I may not have know Dane for a super long time, he will forever be one of the people I remember from high school. Dane is the kind of person you want to be by in world geo or any class, because you always want to hear him crack jokes and make you feel right at home. He's the person to help you out if you need it, and to smile at you I the halls when he sees you. He is caring, he is kind, and he made a lasting impression on us all. I speak only in the highest thoughts of Dane, and in the present tense because he will always be with us. Dane, thanks for being a light in the darkness, and showing us how to smile, always. Since meeting him in 6th grade, Dane remained the most genuine, caring, and fun-loving person ever. He would never fail to make me laugh or cheer me up when I was down. 36. I was lucky enough to get to meet Dane the first day of 6th grade. Our friendship grew stronger as we had almost every class together. Throughout every class he always brought out a smile in everyone. His energy was so bright. Throughout middle school we began to get closer, & then in year book class. I will never forget how he made light out of every situation, the class was absolutely horrible but then there was him, he made everyone laugh. High school came around & he still came with that same kindness, & happiness that made everyone around him instantly feel better. I am forever grateful for the friendship i got to share with him, for the kindness i got to witness from him, for the endless talks we would have about his love for biking to his newest crushes, & for getting the chance to meet someone with the purest soul, & getting to whiteness his huge heart for everyone. 37. Throwback to 8th grade when Dane and I were in the most boring class ever, guitar class. We had our little group of friends in class and it was so fun sitting in the hallways trying to play guitar and failing miserably at that. He made the class a class I was willing to go to everyday so thank you for the memories, constant kindness and that beautiful smile.

  40. I never knew Dane outside of Highlands Ranch Cycling, but if he was the same way at school as he was at practice, then I am sure he would have been an amazing friend there just as he was for me during mountain biking. I always enjoyed going to practice and hanging out with Dane, and I can remember doing our warm ups and stretching together. I will always remember joking and talking to each other while we rode during practice, and hanging out in the mountains before races. Most of all, me and the other riders in the "fun group" during freshman season along with everyone else on the HRC team will never forget how much fun we had with you and each other. I will never forget the great times I had with you Dane and I wish you were still here so we could have some more.

  42. Freshman year, Dane and I were in the same Art class. We were assigned patterns for one of the assignments. The project was to learn about our partner and eventually create a piece reflecting the individual. At first I asked Dane his interests, hobbies, likes/dislikes, etc. As I talked more to Dane he expressed a passion I have not forgotten. I asked along the lines of "What is most important to you?" He simply answered, "One must always do what they love." I have known Dane since kindergarten and throughout the past 11 years, I have seen one of my classmates share a laugh, smile and welcome everyday. Dane was a person of respect and a heart of kindness. He treated others with open arms. I feel honored to not only walk the halls with Dane, but learn about what was truly important to his life. He will forever be in my thoughts, with lots of love - Morgan

We played lacrosse, went to the park, and run around during school and had the best memories wirh Dane. Creative, smart, ambitious, so many words that describes him. He was a good friend and an ever better person. Laughing with him in English class and at Ian's house reminds me of how fun of a person he is. We will never forget you! I will see you again.

He was an amazing friend with not enough words to describe him. Dane will never be forgotten and will always be in my thoughts.

He was a great guy to just sit and talk with, or if you just needed to talk, Dane would listen. Dane was somone who you could always count on seeing again, and it was so easy to pick things up right where they had left off. Danes laugh will stay with me forever, and I consider it a true blessing to have had the chance to call Dane one of my true friends, and I will hold on to the memories for the rest of my life. 47. Dane was always there, dragged along to our games or dropping us off at klife or picking us up from random things. He was never too loud in these moments but he was always there, even if it that meant him randomly interrupting Jess and my Pirates of the Caribbean marathon to hang out in my garage. Dane taught me so much about the little things of life and how it doesn't matter how loud you are or how outgoing you are, it matters if you are there. He was there for me and so many others in his quiet and perfect Dane way. He had a humbling kindness and I'm so greatful I have been able to grow up knowing such an amazing funny and loving boy.

  48. I remember the day so clearly... me, Krista, and Dane had walked to the park right by mama Gouin's house one day. It was summer, we were all bored, and we were looking for something to do. I'd hung out with Jess a lot, she'd come play Just Dance with me and Krista or join in on me and Krista's "girl talk". But Dane was much more quiet. I took him on as a challenge. I am the friend that wants to be bffs with my best friends' mom, aunt, uncle, sister, brother, and cousin. So I was going to make Dane my bff whether he wanted the friendship or not. Krista had to run back home which left just me and Dane at the park, and all I could think was "YES. This is my moment." I feel like Dane always had so much factual information stored up. And it was always about something different every time, which I loved. I can't even remember what it was exactly he was explaining to me because (with the biggest grin on my face) the only thing going through my head was "I got 'em". I'll always remember that moment... I swear his eyes lit up, he started talking a lot faster, he was using hand gestures, and up until then our only real words exchanged were the "Hey Dane", "Bye Dane" ritual. From that day on, every time I'd come over and he was there I'd ask him to tell me about something new. From that day on, every time I saw him I'd make sure to crack the world's lamest joke, that 90% of time made 0 sense, and just watch and wait to see him fighting back a smile. From that day on, I knew not to talk to him as "Krista's little brother". But as Dane Gouin. The super intelligent, super intuitive, mini adult with a ton of obscure facts who you could always count on to you give you the blunt, honest, unfiltered truth about life. Characteristics I think everyone can benefit from. Dane, you will be dearly missed.

  49. Some of my fondest "Dane Memories" occurred at Linda's house over a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips and/or some freshly made pancakes. He was such a relaxed and comfortable person that these interactions were really never awkward, and they definitely weren't quiet. Dane was full of interesting observations about the world and clever remarks directed towards Krista and Jess, many of which I stole to use on my sisters as well. He had such an effortless way of brightening my day, and I hope to model that behavior the rest of my life in memory of him. Sending you my most positive thoughts now and forever, Dane.

  50. Some of my best memories of Dane came from playing in the green belt during the summer time. I remember rolling down hills and running through the creek with Krista, Dane, Jess and Piper. Dane always brought a refreshing sense of adventure to the gang of girls and made the time we all spent together as children, memorable. My family and I have known Dane since he was born and have fond memories of him as a baby. A few days ago my family and I laughed together remembering how the twins were passed around on the side line of Krista and my soccer games while our fathers coached. Even from a young age, Dane put a smile on everyone's faces and we, as a family, will cherish those memories with him forever. Sending all the love and positive thoughts to the Gouin family. Dane, rest peacefully, you will be dearly missed.

  51. I met Dane this July through the mountain biking club at our school. In the time I knew him, I saw that he was the kind of kid who was quick to smile and he really seemed to care about everyone around him. He was one of our best riders and he was the kind of guy who would take time out of every practice to help those who may have been just learning the sport that he loved. I’m fortunate to only have good memories of Dane. There were no real bad times on the trail. We were always just trying to have fun. That was our goal. I know Dane really enjoyed mountain biking and it makes me happy to know that we shared that experience, if only for a few months. I’m happy to know that we at the club gave him a chance to be with friends and share a mutual passion. It may have only been a couple of times a week for a few months, but I have to think it must have meant a lot. When I remember Dane now I always remember our time on the trails where he would be far ahead and I was barely able to keep up. I really do wish that I could have gotten to know him better. I wish that we could have made more memories together. I wish we could have made a friendship that would have lasted years. When I think back on these things it makes me sad, wondering and wishing over what could have been. But I have to remind myself that the moments we did share were pretty good. I have to tell myself that even though we knew each other for a short while, we had some great times. I know that my memories of him are going to be bittersweet for awhile. But I realize that even if they make me sad, even if they make me think about what might have been, I have to hold onto them. Because even though this is a tough time for us all, I want to remember Dane as that kid flying down the trail. I want to remember the good times and the joy he brought to my life and to the lives of others. All I can ask is that you do the same.
